Visual testing, also known as VT, is the popular NDT method in which components are observed through the naked eye or magnifying glasses to evaluate the surface condition, examine the alignment of parts, or find the leaks. As the method uses less equipment, it is one of the most low-cost testing techniques. Visual testing works on the components that show visible degradation like boilers, storage tanks, welds, pressure vessels, etc. But it is always good to clean the oil, dust, rust or any other impurities before testing the component. VT is to inspect castings and forgings.

General Inspection

General inspection in visual testing involves checking the quality of a product through the naked eye. It is a basic observation done for finding the surface discontinuities like physical damage, corrosion and cracks.

Fibroscopy

Fibroscopy is a kind of endoscopic examination and is used in otorhinolaryngology. In this method, a flexible fibre-optic instrument is connected to a cold light source, a camera, and a monitor for examining the component.
